Menya Musashi Bukotsu |
One night, I was very, very hungry, but it was cold and raining, and I didn't want to go far. Instead, I ventured across the street to Menya Musashi Bukotsu, not really sure what was on their menu or what the restaurant would be like.
I don't speak Japanese, but it was super easy to order! Instead of ordering from a waiter, you just select the meal that you want from a machine (which displays the menu in Japanese and English along with pictures of each dish so you know exactly what you want). I ordered a bowl of pork ramen noodle soup and a cold Asahi Beer. After ordering and paying (cash only!), the machine printed out a ticket, which I just gave to the guy behind the bar.

There was nothing better on such a cold, rainy day! The soup was hot and salty with a rich flavor from the bone broth and pork. The noodles were thick and chewy, and the pork meat was so tender that it just melted away.
Of course, enjoying a Japanese meal just isn't complete without a nice cold beer!
