A Great American Dinner

After a day of exploring Eureka Springs, Arkansas, I was in the mood for some good, country-fried, homemade, American dinner! The Horseshoe Grill, located in the hills of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, was the most highly recommended restaurant by our hotel, so we decided to stop in for dinner. And are we glad we did! The Horseshoe Grill serves up huge portions of American classics. It's definitely not a place to visit if you are on a diet, but it's a must-have dinner when passing through northern Arkansas.

Located in the hills of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, the Horseshoe Grill is a treasure of American-style cuisine that promises an indulgent and authentic dining experience. The staff are welcoming and friendly, and upon entering, the aroma of sizzling meat and spices instantly grabs your attention. You are immediately transported in to a warm and inviting atmosphere reminiscent of a classic American roadhouse diner. For an expat like me who has live abroad for over a decade, sometimes it's nice to revisit the classics of American cuisine.
The portions at the Horseshoe Grill are not only generous but also deliciously satisfying. Every plate served is noticeably hearty and rich, a filling nod to the traditional, indulgent American food culture (and I mean that in the absolute best way possible). It's hard not to leave this place without feeling utterly sated. We were unable to finish our meals, and had to take to-go boxes, which we enjoyed just as much the next day.
Trying to be at least a little healthy, we started out by ordering the Memphis grilled chicken. To our surprise (but also delight!), this grilled chicken arrived at the table smothered in cheese and bacon, practically defying any diet we had been trying to stick to. But once we took a single a bite, any regret instantly evaporated. It might not have been the healthy grilled chicken dish we were expecting, but we were delighted beyond words at its incredible taste!
Among the myriad of side dishes that accompany your main course, the okra and potatoes stand out. The okra is served crispy and fresh, adding a pleasing crunch to the meal. The potatoes, on the other hand, provide a comforting contrast with their cloud-like texture and their ability to practically melt in your mouth. The gravy drizzled atop carries a delightfully peppery punch, adding an extra kick to your already flavorsome meal.
The chicken fried chicken is another popular dish. Its exterior is crisp and thickly battered, promising a satisfying crunch with each bite. And let's not forget the onion rings, their crunchy golden exterior concealing a soft, flavorful interior – a perfect side to any meal.
Of course, no visit to an American diner is complete without a serving of mac and cheese, and Horseshoe Grill delivers splendidly in this regard. It's difficult to get mac and cheese wrong, but the Horseshoe Grill goes above and beyond!
We cannot recommend the Horseshoe Grill highly enough!!! What a delectable and delightful dinner!
