Banh Mi Huynh Hoa is a takeaway-only banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich) restaurant in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (formerly Saigon). The shop is known for its fast service and extremely filling banh mi sandwiches. The banh mi, or Vietnamese bread sandwiches, are smeared in pork fat and pate, and are stuffed with meat, vegetables, and Vietnamese herbs, to make one of the biggest and most filling baguette sandwiches in all of Vietnam.

The banh mi sandwich we ordered from Hutnh Hoa came in a plastic bag served up with the requisite ingredients. There's only one item on the menu; one can only order in quantities. You have to queue up and order the number of banh mi sandwiches that you want.
Every sandwich is made the same way; in the traditional Manh Mi Huynh Hoa method. You can choose how many sandwiches you want, but the final result is always the same. Each banh mi is made assembly line-style by the employees at the tiny hole-in-the-wall shop in Saigon.

When you order a banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich) from Bánh Mì Huynh Hoa, you will be presented with a pink plastic bag containing all the important ingredients for a traditional Vietnamese sandwich. You have to queue up in front of the restaurant, who make the sandwiches as fast as they can and distribute them to the long line of waiting customers and delivery drivers.

We picked up our banh mi in person, then took a Grab car back to our hotel where we assembled our sandwich. The banh mi that we ordered came with a crispy baguette, which was extremely crunchy and hard on the outside, yet super soft on the inside. The baguette was delivered alongside a great assortment of fillings which we had to add to the banh mi ourselves. The banh mi came with pate, a generous smear of pork fat, shredded pork, pork pie, onion, carrot, cilantro, cucumber, jalapeño, pork floss, and more.
It was a lot. We were only able to eat half a sandwich each and ended up saving the rest for breakfast the next day. To be honest, the banh mi was a little bit too rich for me, but it was still delicious.

There's nowhere to sit in the restaurant; every order is made to-go. You have to assemble the banh mi yourself, because this restaurant is so popular that there's no time to wait!
It's fascinating to watch the staff assemble the sandwiches, which they do with alacrity. It's really incredible to order a banh mi and be delivered it in just a minute or two.
