Khao Pad Tom Yum Talay, or Tom Yum Seafood Fried Rice
in Bangkok, Thailand
What do you get when you combine two of Thailand's most beloved street food dishes? Tom yum fried rice, of course!

I ordered khao pad tom yum, or tom yum fried rice at a local Thai supermarket food court. One of the many amazing things about living in Thailand is how you can find incredible food wherever you go, and even after a decade here, I'm still discovering new foods to try.

Tom yum fried rice combines the vibrant herbal flavors of tom yum - galangal, kaffir lime, chili - with the classic texture of fried rice. Normally served as a soup, tom yum is one of the most popular national dishes in Thailand. Tom yum is traditionally made with seafood, and this rice was no exception. It was full of juicy shrimp and delicious rings of savory squid meat.
Location
You can find this dish throughout Thailand, but I ate it at Food Park, a food court on the second floor of Big C Extra Ladphrao (near Phahonyothin MRT Station and Union Mall).
