GIANT Crab Claw Noodles
by Odean Noodle Restaurant, Bangkok, Thailand (Chinatown)
Odean Noodle, a classic old-school shophouse restaurant located in Bangkok's Chinatown neighborhood, is famous for their bami wheat noodles topped with an entire crab claw. This one-of-a-kind dish uses some of the freshest and best crab meat in town and is well-worth a detour when exploring Yaowarat Road.

I arrived at Odean around 9:00 am just after they opened. It was early and the restaurant was still quiet, but it was far from empty. Even though it was in between meal rushes, it was clear that this classic Thai-Chinese noodle shop was popular. Many of the seats were already filled with locals who live and work around Charoenkrung Road. A busy restaurant at off-hours is always a good sign!

Of course, I had to order their signature dish: crab claw noodles!
A bowl of traditional Chinese-style bami wheat noodles is served with a generous portion of crab meat, two big and juicy prawn dumplings, chopped green onion, fried garlic, and (of course) the requisite crab claw! The noodles are served dry with a bowl of delicious savory broth on the side. You can add the broth to your noodles to make a soup or eat them separately.
I am personally more of a fan of dry noodles, so I enjoyed the broth on its own after finishing my bowl of noodles.

If you want to order Odean's signature crab noodles, the price will vary. When you place your order, the staff will ask you what size crab claw you want. You must order based on the size of the claw. Small crab claws start at 150 baht, and the largest are cooked and sold for 550 baht. The rest of the ingredients in the bowl of noodles remain the same regardless of the size and price of the claw.
I wanted to order the largest claw size, but the availability is limited depending on the daily shipment of crab claws to the restaurant. Instead, I ordered a 350 baht medium-sized crab claw. As you can see in the photos, even the medium claw was huge and worth the price.

Menu and Price
You can see Odean's menu and prices in the pictures below.
In addition to the crab claw noodles, I can also recommend their standard crab noodles and delicious crab cakes. The noodles go great with a glass of Odean's refreshing lemongrass juice as well.
There is no one set price for this dish. Instead, the price depends on the size of the crab claw. Sizes and prices are clearly listed on the menu. The smallest crab claw will cost 150 baht (about $5 USD), and the largest will cost 550 baht (about $15 USD).
Besides the size of the crab claw, all other ingredients and portions are the same.
