About Pad Thai
While pad Thai is possibly the best-know Thai dish abroad, it's actually relatively new, and was only invented in the 1930s as part of a campaign by a nationalist government to unify the country! In fact, it's not eaten by Thai people all that often, and most pad Thai restaurants mainly cater to tourists. Baan Padthai was established in 2016 to help promote pad Thai locally and to make it a more significant part of the local Thai cuisine.
This was definitely some of the best pad Thai I've had. The portion was huge and very filling, and I could barely finish the entire plate (although I definitely did!). I was especially impressed with the amount of meat included in the dish. Each plate of pad Thai bu is cooked with an entire blue crab, and they even include the crab's shell atop the pile of rice noodles.

I ordered the pad Thai bu, or crab pad Thai, which is one of Baan Phadthai's recommended signature dishes. When the dish arrived, I was surprised and impressed to see that it was served with the meat of an entire blue crab! They really didn't skimp on the ingredients.
Baan Phadthai stir-fries rice noodles and other high-quality ingredients in their secret sauce recipe that combines 18 different components! The big pieces of crab meat are really juicy and delicious, and the portion size is huge!

The noodles are sweet, savory, and smoky. I added a squeeze of lime and an extra scoop of both Thai chili flakes and crushed roasted peanuts, both of which are provided for guests so that they can adjust and balance the flavor of their dish as per their preference.

Prices are a little high for pad Thai, but when you consider the quality of ingredients and the care that has gone into each dish, it's worth the price.

The restaurant is cozy and inviting. The walls are decorated with wooden panels from Ayutthaya (the old capital of Thailand), and the shop is decorated with vintage Thai advertisements and cool retro antiques and decorations.
