Famous Indian Sweets Shop Hidden in Phahurat Market

Tucked away in a tiny shop in the back of Phahurat Market in Bangkok, Thailand, Punjab Sweets sells some of the city's most traditional Indian snacks, desserts, and sweets.

I really like Indian food, but I have to admit that I don't know too much about it. I was especially unfamiliar with the sweets! Not knowing what exactly to order (or indeed what any of it was called!), the staff allowed me to walk over to the counter and point at a number of different sweets which they placed on a tray for me.

Part of the fun for me was getting to sample such a great variety of flavors and textures! No two sweets were alike!

It ended up being way too much sugar for me, but I loved every bite (especially the gulab jamun, khoya (milk-solids) soaked in a sweet sugar syrup).

Seating is available in the restaurant, and air-conditioned tables are available upstairs.

In addition to the sweets, Punjab Sweets also serves an expansive menu of staple Indian dishes.

Traveler's Tips

Phahurat is Bangkok's Little India neighborhood. It's one of the best places to go in the city if you are craving authentic Indian cuisine.

It's also home to Gurudwara Siri Guru Singh Sabha, the second-largest Sikh gurdwara outside of India!

Punjab Sweets is located in Phahurat Market at Chakkraphet Rd, Wang Burapha Phirom, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok 10200, Thailand. It can be a little hard to find if you are not familiar with the area, but the Google Maps location is accurate.

The nearest metro station is MRT Sam Yot Station.
