The "Baylor Taco Plate": Steak and Avocado Tacos

Wako Taco is one of my favorite taquerias in all of Texas. This locally owned Tex-Mex restaurant serves incredible tacos in the heart of Waco.
I tried the "Baylor Taco Plate", a fresh and bright taco made with delicious steak, homemade cheese, and avocado.
Wako Taco is a newer restaurant in town, but it's already become a favorite amongst Wacoans!

Wako Taco's "Baylor Taco Plate", named after the local university (Sic'em Bears!) comes with three sirloin steak tacos served on house-made flour tortillas with cilantro, grilled onion, and queso fresco (a type of soft, white cheese), and topped with a thick slice of fresh green avocado.
If you're in the mood for a good taco, this is arguably one of the healthier Tex-Mex options you can find!

These tacos aren't exactly fusion, but they aren't exactly what you'd call traditional Tex-Mex either (they remind me more of West Coast Mexican food, which is different from what you normally find in Texas, but delicious in its own way).
What they are is tasty, filling, rich, and savory. A spritz of lime gives them a refreshing brightness, and the traditional sides of rice and refried beans make a complete and filling Mexican lunch or dinner.

Wako Taco is a small taqueria with several tables inside and a few outside. It's usually busy (especially at lunchtime), but food service is quick, and I've never had to wait very long! I've eaten at Wako Taco several times, and the food has always been incredible.
