Honey Butter "Waffuru" and Miso Caramel Coffee
Modern Japanese Fusion by qraft, Bangkok, Thailand
While exploring Bangkok's Ari neighborhood, I decided to stop in at qraft for a coffee and a snack. Created by the same team behind Peace Oriental Teahouse, a premium Japanese-style matcha teahouse with locations throughout Bangkok, qraft is a minimalist and ultra-modern cafe serving up delicious pastries and very unique specialty coffees.
I ordered a honey butter waffuru (a smashed and toasted croissant-waffle hybrid) and a cup of iced miso caramel coffee.
While qraft is perhaps best known for their croissants, which they make using premium imported Japanese ingredients, the "waffuru" is probably their most unique offering.

This smashed croissant-waffle is filled with sweet and salty honey butter, which soaks through the bread giving every bite rich, flavorful taste. The waffuru (the Japanese word for "waffle", is crispy and flaky on the outside and soft and buttery inside. It's smashed in a waffle iron to give it a crispy toasted flavor and its signature waffle texture.
I also ordered a miso caramel iced coffee. The coffee was creamy, sweet, and salty. The sweetness of the caramel was cut by the natural saltiness of the miso paste, and the drink had a rich buttery taste. The unusual combination of coffee and salt reminded me of the famous salted coffee from Hue, Vietnam.
The pastel miso caramel coffee cost 165 baht ($4.75) and the honey butter waffle cost 145 baht ($4.15).
