Jui Guay (จุ๊ยก๊วย), or Steamed Rice Cakes with Radish
by Jui Guay (Hawker Stall), Bangkok, Thailand
Jui Guay is a Thai-Chinese street food dish of Teochew origin. In Bangkok, this dish can be found along Yaowarat Road in the city's Chinatown neighborhood.
The name, which means something like "rice water cakes" are made from small round steamed rice flour cakes topped with stewed preserved radish and other ingredients.

While a similar dish called "chwee kueh" is popular in Malaysia and Singapore, the version found here is a uniquely Thai-Chinese fusion dish.
The rice cakes on their own don't have much flavor, but they provide the base and a nice chewy texture that is topped with all of the rich and flavorful ingredients that make this dish come alive.
In addition to the crunchy preserved radish, the jui guay that you can find on Yaowarat Road is also topped with green onion, lots of stir-fried garlic, sliced hot red chilies, white pepper, and chili sauce. It's slightly spicy, but not unbearably so, and all of the flavors are absolutely incredible.
There's a similar dish in Vietnam that also uses rice flour and minced pork called "bánh bèo".
