Bangkok, Thailand's Ari neighborhood (BTS Ari Station) is one of my favorite places in the city for food. The neighborhood boasts a delicious mix of trendy modern cafes and fusion cuisine alongside legendary century-old shophouse restaurants.

I was exploring the neighborhood and looking for lunch when I decided to stop in at NaiMeng Noodles to try their famous Chinese-style noodles, wontons, and barbecue pork.

Egg noodles are served "dry" with a bowl of savory pork broth on the side. The bowl of noodles is served with a number of plump and juicy shrimp-filled wontons, succulent slices of Thai-style red barbecued pork, sweet and savory stewed pork, and sliced black mushrooms. The noodles are then topped with a generous portion of aromatic crispy fried garlic.

Another signature dish from NaiMeng is their super huge and hearty mixed barbecue pork platter. The "rice with barbecue pork + crispy pork + Chinese Sausage + egg" dish (59 baht) comes with a massive portion for such an incredible price.

A classic Thai-style moo daeng (red pork) is served alongside slices of kun chiang (sweet Chinese pork sausage) and crispy pork belly. The rice is topped with an egg and smothered in a sweet, savory, and slightly smoky Thai red pork sauce.

This is one of my favorite Thai dishes, and I have to admit that I've never tasted a bad version of it. However, NaiMeng's moo daeng is some of the best I've ever had. You certainly won't feel full after finishing this huge plate of food.

Location

NaiMeng Noodles is located on Ari soi 1 at อาคารสนั่นนภา, ปาก Soi Ari 1, แขวงพญาไท Phaya Thai, Bangkok 10400. The restaurant is just a short 100-meter walk from BTS Ari Station.

The restaurant is open Sunday-Friday from 9AM until 9PM and on Saturday from 10AM until 9PM. The menu is available in both Thai and English. Air-conditioned seating is available on the second floor.
