Egg Noodles with Deep-Fried Pork Fillet
by Luk Kai Thong, Don Mueang Airport, Bangkok, Thailand
I arrived at Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok, Thailand on a grey and stormy afternoon. I was on my way to Phnom Penh (lots of great Cambodian content coming soon!), when a huge storm suddenly broke over the City of Angels.
The flight was delayed, and I was stuck inside the international terminal. I decided to pass the time by having lunch, so I headed to Luk Kai Thong, a restaurant in Bangkok famous for its royal Thai cuisine which also happens to have a branch right there inside the terminal.
I decided to order a bowl of egg noodles with deep-fried pork fillet for lunch while I waited for the storm to pass.

A bowl of thick and chewy egg noodles was served with blanched kale, green onions, and fried garlic, and were topped with a huge fried pork fillet.
The pork fillet, of course, was the star of the show. The rich, salty fillet was crispy on the outside and fatty on the inside. The noodles provided a simple and hearty base for the rest of the ingredients.
The noodles were served dry (without broth), but they came with a small separate bowl of broth on the side in typical Thai fashion.

Price
This noodle dish costs 480 baht, which is pretty expensive for a Thai noodle dish, but it's the "airport price" after all. I am not sure what it would cost at another of this restaurant's locations. It's a more upscale restaurant, and they serve an expansive menu of royal Thai cuisine, so you can expect prices to be slightly higher than average.
However, it's probably the nicest restaurant inside the international terminal, and if you are feeling hungry, I think it's worth splurging a bit.
Location
Luk Kai Thong has a few branches in Bangkok, but I visited the one inside the Don Mueang International Airport terminal. If you are heading off on a flight and have some time to kill, stop by for a nice meal before boarding your plane.
