Prawn Glass Noodles in a Hot Pot

I visited Somboon Seafood, one of the most famous seafood restaurants in all of Bangkok. Opened in 1969, the restaurant has been featured in the Bangkok edition of the Michelin guide for their amazing seafood, big portions, and reasonable prices.
Although Somboon Seafood is most famous for their original fried crab curry, there was another dish that I wanted to try: prawn glass noodles in a hot pot.
A steaming metal pan arrived at the table shortly, piled with a mountain of glass noodles and a generous serving of big, fatty Thai prawns. The dish's name might be a little misleading. This dish has no relation to Chinese-style hot pot, but is instead a reference to the way that it is served. It's not a soup, but rather a noodle dish.

A bed of smoky glass noodles (similar to vermicelli but made of mung bean flour rather than rice), is served atop stir-fried mushrooms and thick slices of fatty bacon. The noodles are imbued with lots of rich, hearty, savory flavors, and are served with several big and juicy pieces of fresh prawns.
The seafood at Somboon is world-renowned, and was even featured in the Bangkok Michelin Guide, so you know that these prawns are going to be some of the biggest, freshest, and juiciest in the city.

When you are at Somboon Seafood, be sure to try their world-famous original fried crab curry (550 baht for a small serving). You would be remis for visiting without also trying this renowned dish!
Price
A small serving of prawn glass noodles in a hot pot (as seen above) costs 380 baht. A large serving is 660 baht. A small serving is enough to share between two people, especially if you opt to order a side dish. A large serving would be enough for a full table to share.
Location
Somboon Seafood has a few locations, all of which are located in Bangkok. The original is in Bangkok's Bang Rak neighborhood at 169 / 7-12 Surawong Rd, Suriya Wong, Bang Rak, Bangkok 10500. It's a short walk from Sam Yan MRT and Sala Daeng BTS.
There's also a location at Central World (BTS Chid Lom), Central Embassy (BTS Ploen Chit), and Siam Square (BTS Siam). I visited the branch in Bangkok's Ratcheda neighborhood (MRT Huay Kwang), which is located at 167/9-12 Ratchadaphisek Rd, Din Daeng, Bangkok 10400.
