Khmer Yellow Curry with Duck
by David's Noodles, Phnom Penh, Cambodia
While David's Noodles in Phnom Penh, Cambodia is most famous for their handmade noodle soup, the little restaurant just a short walk from the Royal Palace and National Museum has a fantastic menu with a lot of variety.
I stopped by one evening for a bowl of Khmer yellow curry with duck, a warming and deliciously spiced dish that feels rich and luxurious despite its reasonable price.

A warming and very mildly spicy curry broth made with lots of delicious flavorful herbs and spices (the most noticeable flavor is turmeric, which also gives the curry its iconic coloring) is laden with a hearty medley of stew vegetables like carrots, sweet yellow onion, and green beans. The dish is served with a very generous portion of thinly sliced duck meat for extra umami flavor, rich texture, and delicious taste.
It's hard not to order the world-famous noodles at David's, but if you are coming back for a second visit, I recommend giving the rest of the menu a chance as well.
