Wonton Noodles with Crispy Pork
by Bamee Ban Pong Jae Dang, Bangkok, Thailand
There's not a massive distinction between breakfast, lunch, and dinner foods in Thai cuisine, but noodles are more often than not considered to be a dinner or even late-night meal. However, I was craving a bowl of noodles on a drizzly, grey, rainy morning, so I stepped inside a local noodle shop for a late breakfast and to get out of the rain.
I sat down at a small burnished metal table pushed up alongside the wall at Bamee Ban Pong Jae Dang in Bangkok, Thailand and the staff promptly brought me an English menu. I placed my order, and the meal arrived within moments.

I ordered a bowl of crispy pork wonton noodles. When you order, you are given the choice of ordering the noodles "dry" (with a small bowl of broth on the side) or "wet" (as a soup). I usually prefer dry noodles, so that's what I went for.
The noodles consisted of a portion of bami, or Thai egg noodles, which were served with delicious steamed pork wontons and a generous topping of crispy deep-fried pork belly, fried garlic, green onion, and cilantro.
