Moo Satay Nai Song, or Mr. Song's Pork Satay, has been famous in Bangkok since 1980! The menu is simple: Mr. Song serves only pork satay and its sides. In my opinion, when a restaurant that has been open for nearly half a century serves just one item, you know it's got to be good.
Moo satay is a type of Thai pork satay, or marinaded pork meat traditionally cooked on skewers over charcoal grills.

Although satay originated as an Indonesian dish, it has evolved as it has spread across Southeast Asia. In Thailand, pork satay is the most common - a striking difference from the original halal beef satay served in majority Muslim Indonesia and Malaysia.
Each serving of pork satay at Mr. Song's restaurant comes with a bowl of peanut curry sauce and another bowl of acar, a type of maritime Southeast Asian pickle relish consisting of slices of chopped onion, cucumber, and red chili in a solution of vinegar, salt, and sugar.
The crispy and sour vegetables provide a contrast to the soft and tender meat and sweet peanut sauce. All of the elements of Thai moo satay combine to create a complex and well-balanced dish. It's popular to alternate bites of pork with bites of pickled vegetables in order to enhance the contrast and flavors of every element of the satay.

Mr. Song also sells slices of toast to eat alongside the satay. The toast is made from thick-cut slices of sweet white bread and can be dipped into the peanut curry to soak up all of the delicious flavors. A piece of toast is just 10 baht, and I recommend ordering a slice or two so that you can enjoy every last bit of the delicious peanut sauce.

The menu at Mr. Song's Pork Satay is simple. Each satay pork skewer costs 10 baht and comes with a side of peanut curry sauce and pickled vegetables. A piece of thick toasted white bread also costs 10 baht.

Moo Satay Nai Song (Mr. Song's Pork Satay) is located at 991 8 ถนน บรรทัดทอง Wang Mai, Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330. It's a short taxi drive or a 10-15-minute walk from BTS National Stadium or MRT Hua Lamphong stations.
