Bami Moo Daeng, or Roasted Pork Noodles Egg Noodles with Wontons in Bangkok, Thailand

Roasted Pork Noodles with Wontons

at Food Park Food Court, Big C Extra, Ladphrao in Bangkok, Thailand

Moo daeng, or red pork, is one of my favorite Thai foods. Thinly sliced pieces of marinaded and charcoal-grilled pork are slathered in a sweet and savory sesame barbecue sauce reminiscent of Chinese char siu (which, in fact, is what Thai moo daeng evolved from).

The other day, I ordered a bowl of bami moo daeng, or egg noodles served with a generous amount of roasted pork and soft and chewy pork wontons at a local food court in Bangkok, Thailand.

A bowl of bami egg noodles was topped with several pieces of tender sliced red barbecue pork. The pork was super soft and fell apart in the mouth. The noodles were also served with several soft and chewy pork-stuffed dumplings.

The whole dish was then slathered in a thick barbecue gravy laden with sesame seeds and topped with a few pieces of chopped green chili, Chinese kale, and fresh cilantro. I added a few spoonsful of Chinese black vinegar to the top of the dish to give it an extra rich, tangy kick.
