Stewed Pork Leg Steamed Buns
in Bangkok, Thailand
Mantou (馒头) are a type of Chinese steamed wheat buns. A staple of southern Chinese cuisine, which has greatly influenced the food of Thailand, mantou are often eaten plain but can be sliced open and filled with delicious ingredients.
The other day I ordered some stewed pork leg buns at a small shop in Bangkok, Thailand. This Thai-Chinese fusion shop serves up hearty stewed Thai pork leg stuffed inside mantou buns.

The wheat buns arrived at my table hot and steaming and right out of the steamer basket. They had been slices open lengthwise and filled with a thick, tender, savory, salty, and mildly sweet stew made from shredded pork legs stewed over a long period of time.
The otherwise relatively plain mantou buns soaked up all of the delicious fatty juices from the shredded pork, and served as a perfect vessel for enjoying this delicious lunch.
Location
This shop is located at the small food court inside Gourmet Market at the Ladphrao MRT Station in Bangkok, Thailand.
