Parisian Brunch in New York City
by French Roast, Upper West Side, Manhattan
I was in New York City recently, and joined my family for brunch at French Roast, a popular Parisian restaurant in Manhattan's Upper West Side. I don't get back to the United States very often, so it's always nice when we can all get together for a good meal.
My mom and I both ordered the French stuffed croissant with home fries, which was a super filling, tasty, and hearty breakfast. A thick and buttery toasted baguette was halved and stuffed with fluffy and creamy French-style scrambled eggs, bacon, and Gruyère cheese.
The croissant was perfectly made. It was light, airy, and crispy, and the sandwich itself was really satisfying. It had a wonderful smoky aroma and flavor due to the thick-cut applewood smoked bacon. The home fries were savory and toothsome, and were seasoned with salt, pepper and herbs. They were served with a side of ketchup.

Like its name suggests, this dish blends the traditional Italian potato dumplings with a hearty tomato-based meat sauce topped with fresh green peas, slivers of savory parmesan cheese, and herbs.

If you want something a bit more traditionally, you absolutely can't go wrong with an omelette, which is what my dad ordered.
The French-style omelette was stuffed with mushrooms and vegetables, topped with herbs, and served with a generous side of home fries.
I also ordered a mug of the bottomless coffee, always a welcome addition to any brunch menu.
Menu
Like any respectable French restaurant, the menu at French Roast is half wine! The restaurant presents French classics with a modern twist. Although all of their food is good, I, a notorious breakfast lover, am particularly fond of their brunch menu!
