Chocolate Chip "Crookie" in New York City
by Le Pain Quotidien
A crookie is a hybrid pastry that combines a croissant and a cookie. It typically consists of a buttery, flaky croissant stuffed with a cookie dough filling, resulting in a crispy, chewy, and layered treat. Like its cousin the cronut, the crookie is a popular pastry in New York which has gone viral on social media in the past few years.
I had my first crookie at Le Pain Quotidien, a French restaurant chain with a branch in New York City.
A buttery French croissant was stuffed full of chocolate chip cookie dough which came bursting out of it in the oven, enveloping the croissant with a soft and chewy chocolate chip shell.
Each bite of the croissant was infused with chocolate flavor, and the crookie was super rich and filling. It went really well with a cup of hot coffee.
Location
Le Pain Quotidien is located at 2161 Broadway, New York, NY 10024, United States in Manhattan's Upper West Side. The restaurant is open daily until 7PM, but I recommend eating for breakfast or brunch.
